김성태 전 국민의힘 의원은 8일 인요한 혁신위원장의 행보에 대해 “똑바른 방향을 잘 설정하고 뚜벅뚜벅 잘 가고 있는 것 같다”고 평가했다.

김 전 의원은 이날 오후 라디오 ‘주진우 라이브’에 출연해 인 위원장이 홍준표 대구시장,김성태quot인요한방향잘설정해뚜벅뚜벅잘하고있다 이준석 전 대표, 유승민 전 의원, 김종인 전 비상대책위원장 등을 만난 것에 대한 평가를 요청받고 이같이 답했다.

그는 “본인이 혁신 1호 안건을 통합으로 잡지 않았느냐. 당, 그리고 윤석열 대통령에게 쓴소리를 마다치 않은 사람들을 우선해서 챙기고 가서 얘기를 듣고 앞으로 여러분 얘기도 존중하겠다, 함께 가자. 혁신위원장으로는 정말 똑바른 방향을 잘 설정한 것 같다”고 말했다.

김 전 의원은 ‘대통령한테는 한마디 안 한다’는 지적에는 “차례가 있다”며 “처음부터 대통령한테 쓴소리하는 혁신위 위원장에 함몰되다 보면 또 우리 당이나 또 우리 당에 쓴소리하고 또 아픈 소리 한그분들의 마음을 돌리는 시간을 놓칠 수 있다”고 말했다.

이준석 발 신당론에 대해선 “본인이 신당 창당을 하면 사실상 국민의힘이 가장 많이 아프다”며 “인 위원장과 국민의힘 구성원 모두는 이 전 대표가 섣부른 신당 창당을 연말에 할 수 있는 그 길을 가는 길로 결코 방치해서는 안 된다”고 강조했다.
